The Choir
PCEA Langata choir is a local church group within the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) that performs gospel music as a form of worship, praise, and community outreach. It serves as a vital part of church life, leading congregational singing and participating in special events like choir festivals and services. Beyond worship, the choir also engage in charitable activities, such as donating to hospitals, and their performances are often broadcast or shared online to spread their ministry
- To Edify and Lead the Congregation: The choir's fundamental role is to lead and enliven the congregation's singing, supporting their faith through music.
- To Glorify God: By performing beautiful and challenging music, the choir serves to glorify God and bring praise to Him
- To Foster Community: The choir acts as a community within the church, providing a space for faith formation, discipleship, and unity among members
Men's Choral
Men Chorale envisions a vibrant choral community in which each ensemble represents all communities in Langata. Where children, youth, and adults of all backgrounds learn through participation in music, gaining choral skills provided through ensemble and collaborative performances.
- Performance: the men's chorale ;perform in church and concerts and in the community
- Education: For student ensembles, the chorale serves as a platform for learning vocal techniques, musical concepts like rhythm, harmony, and melody, and musical notation
- Cultural Expression: They can act as musical ambassadors, sharing their artistry and promoting the art of music to a broader audience
- Collective Action: We value collaboration and belonging; we welcome the full diversity of humankind in our work as together we perform great music for our audiences.
- Service and Learning in Community: We value service to our members and our audiences. By engaging the best in the choral community to serve as directors, we work towards continual learning and cross-cultural exchange
Praise and Worship
This groups consists like-minded individuals who seek connection, musicians and leaders who select, teach, and perform songs to facilitate a spiritual connection for a congregation.
- Worship Leaders: These are individuals who lead worship by selecting and performing songs for services and other events
- Worship Musicians: These teams include instrumentalists and vocalists who play and sing to lead the congregation in worship
- Music Selection and Preparation: Teams choose and prepare songs, hymns, and other musical elements for services
- Leading the Congregation: The primary role is to lead the entire congregation in worship, rather than simply performing
- Spiritual Leadership: Team members serve as spiritual leaders, encouraging the congregation to participate in worship and deepen their faith.
- Prayer and Intercession: A strong emphasis on prayer and intercessory prayer is often a foundational aspect of the team's ministry
Imigisha
This is a group of individuals who came together enjoined by a common goal to sing for the lord with their God given voices to worship and praise Him.
- The primary goal is to lead the congregation in joyful singing and heartfelt worship, drawing them closer to Go
- Team members act as spiritual leaders, facilitating the congregation's spiritual journey through worship.
- Teach, sing with and/or lead songs with choirs/ensembles as requested
